“This is a list of challenges I’m setting myself. It’s full of things I want to do, or achieve, before I hit the big 2-5. Okay, it’s not really that big, but it’s a quarter of a Century, so if you look at it like that…”
Happy birthday to me! Yes, I’m another year older (hello to my new 24 year old self!). As always, I can’t say I feel any different, but I would love to say I’m a little wiser (although that can be up for discussion…)
I think it’s fair to say I have pretty unfortunate timing for my birthday. It slots into that in between stage that’s all a bit weird. It’s just been Christmas, everyone is waiting on New Year, and no one really knows what day it is.
Let’s be honest, everyone’s broke (myself included) and so I can’t really blame anyone for not being hugely enthusiastic about doing much. Woe is me. I know. But, I can’t really complain. Except for the part about having to wait a whole 11 months before getting any sort of presents again. But, it could be worse. I was meant to be born on Christmas Eve, so at least that’s something!
As I have a whole 11 months to think about what I would like, I often end up buying most things. Yes, 11 months is a little too long to wait – even for the most patient person among us,.
That being said, I usually start writing my Christmas/birthday list well in advance – and by well in advance, I mean around September time. Ah, the troubles of a December baby! But, this time I’ve decided to create a slightly different list for my birthday (and one that I’ve written now). It’s not full of presents, or things I’d love to get as gifts, but instead is a list of challenges I’m setting myself. It’s full of things I want to do, or achieve, before I hit the big 2-5. Okay, it’s not really that big, but it’s a quarter of a Century, so if you look at it like that…
I decided to write down a list, not only because I love making a good list or two, but also because I work best to goals. If something is written out, or a challenge is given to me, it makes me way more likely to complete it as I simply can’t ignore it. And that’s especially true if people don’t think I can do something. But that may just have something to do with me being a little bit stubborn…
Most of the items on the list are things I’ve known for ages I should be doing, or have wanted to do, but have not got round to actually getting started with them. Same old story. So, I’ll be revisiting this post just before I hit my 25th birthday, to see how many I’ve been able to tick off, and have a little review of my 24th year.
So, without further ado, here’s 24 things I want to do before I’m 25:
- Go on a photography course.
- Start vlogging.
- Moisturise daily!
- Go on a cookery course.
- See more places (in the UK)
- Drink more water.
- Grow my blog following.
- Become a yogi (or perhaps just do yoga).
- Get a promotion at work.
- Do exercise at least 2 times a week, every week.
- Have a beauty night once a week.
- Add to my savings account.
- Eat healthier (standard).
- See my friends more.
- Do something for charity.
- Stop obsessing over my weight/ body image. YOU’RE FINE AS YOU ARE.
- Find the ‘perfect’ foundation.
- Start writing a book (this is a biggy, but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. So, maybe this will give me the kick I really need to get going…)
- Travel to another continent.
- Stop being so stubborn (Harry, this one’s for you).
- Stop over-analysing.
- Clear out my wardrobe and give everything I no longer want to charity.
- Learn how to cook a roast!
- Say “yes” more
Right, let’s see how well this goes…Wish me luck!
