“Bright, colourful, fun and full of energy, Zindiya exudes a cool and quirky vibe from the get go.”
I love how many independent coffee shops, bars and restaurants are popping up all over Birmingham. And, we’re lucky enough to have one more. Zindiya. After hearing several raving reviews from friends who had visited this new Indian streatery (which opened at the beginning of the year), I decided it was time to make a trip one Friday night and see what all the fuss was about. And I was not disappointed.
I’m a big fan of places who spend some time on their interior decor to make their restaurant/shop/bar stand out from the crowd. And this place does just that. Bright, colourful, fun and full of energy, Zindiya exudes a cool and quirky vibe from the get go.
If the decor isn’t enough to win you over, then the drink options may just do that. As the menu says, ‘take a journey in cocktail flavours around India’. Not just your average cocktails, Zindiya once more thinks outside the box, with all sorts of concoctions being served. Who fancies a cocktail in a bag, or how about a cocktail in a coconut?! VERY instagrammable.
Then, the all important reason we’re really here – the food. This is the perfect opportunity to experience some Indian cuisine, with an extensive menu on offer. And, if you’re like me, it’s the perfect place to visit if you like to have a few different dishes at your table.
If you’re a bit of a wuss when it comes to spicy food (ahem), don’t be put off. The only dish I found a little too hot for my liking was the chicken tikka, and Harry was more than happy to finish this one off for me. The rest was oh-so-good.
This place is pretty popular, so if you’re looking to guarantee a table, it’s worth booking ahead. But, if you’re after a great atmosphere and good food that’s reasonably priced, this place is an easy pick. Zindiya, I’ll be back.
